Based on Live Science, the mask depicts the Maya storm god.

The tomb was discovered by a& Tulane University& archaeologist at a website referred to as Chochkitam.

Together with the funerary mask, several uncommon mollusk shells and carved human femur bones have been found.

One carving depicts an unknown king holding an analogous jade masks.

Hierpglyphs on the femurs hyperlink the king to the Maya states of Tikal and Teotihuacan.

As well as 16 mollusk shells, researchers discovered a uncommon spiny oyster.

The tomb was initially discovered in 2022 and earlier than this looters had tried to succeed in it but failed.
