Akira Toriyama, who created the best-selling Japanese comedian Dragon Ball, has died aged 68.
His studio announced Toriyama's demise, after an acute subdural hematoma, which is a bleeding on the brain. Toriyama died on March 1.
'He would have many more things to realize. Nevertheless, he has left many manga titles and artistic endeavors to this world,' the statement from Shueisha read.
'We hope that Akira Toriyama's unique world of creation continues to be beloved by everybody for a long time to return.'
Dragon Ball saw success around the globe, which led to films, cartoons, video video games, and merchandise.
The creation follows the primary character Son Goku, who is on a mission to collect magical balls containing dragons, which are used to defend planet Earth towards the alien humanoids, Saiyans. Son Goku begins the story as a young child who struggles to grasp martial arts before turning into a hero with special powers – he can shoot bolts of electrical energy from his palms.
Fans have paid tribute to the influential artist.
