ERIC Carmen, the lead singer of The Raspberries, has died at the age of 74.
The beloved frontman, whose solo hits embrace All By Myself and Never Gonna Fall in Love Once more, died in his sleep over the weekend, his spouse confirmed on Monday.
The 70s power pop icon was behind the hit Hungry Eyes popularized in Dirty Dancing as well as being the master behind the theme music for Footloose.
His band The Raspberries was extra lately embraced by a new era when its 40-year-old single Go All of the Method was included on the soundtrack of the film Guardians of the Galaxy.
News of Carmen's dying was shared by his spouse in a message on his website on Monday.
"It's with super unhappiness that we share the heartbreaking information of the passing of Eric Carmen," Amy Carmen wrote.
"Our sweet, loving and gifted Eric handed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It introduced him nice joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will probably be his lasting legacy.
"Please respect the household's privateness as we mourn our monumental loss. 'Love Is All That Matters… Trustworthy and Ceaselessly."
</div> Amy's message is a nod to Love Is All That Matters, a romantic track from Carmen's 1977 solo album entitled Boats Towards the Current.
The trigger and circumstances of his dying have not been made public.
Carmen led The Raspberries to fame earlier than kicking off an unimaginable solo profession that made him a household identify throughout the country.

Carmen is survived by his spouse Amy and their two youngsters, Clayton and Kathryn.
