Christopher Eccleston has made no secret of his disdain for his 2005 collection of Doctor Who, beforehand branding it a 'mess'.
The actor, 60, has also spoken candidly about his mental health struggles, having been hospitalised with severe medical depression following a breakdown in 2016.
Now, Billie Piper, 41 – who starred as Rose Tyler within the BBC sci-fi collection – has shared that she knew Christopher was 'struggling' whereas they labored together.
Nevertheless, she was unaware of simply how destructive his opinion of the show was.
Her comments come after Christopher stated at a fan conference last yr: 'The first collection was a multitude, and it wasn't to do with me or Billie – it was to do with the individuals who have been imagined to make it.'

Billie – whose latest role is in Scoop – admitted that she turned overwhelmed with being shot to stardom, so didn't pay a lot attention to any interpersonal squabbles inside the crew.
'It was one among my first massive appearing jobs. So I was like, "Whey!" Grateful, grateful, grateful. Loving it, loving it. Can't consider I'm lastly doing the job I need to do, can't consider I'm working with all these unimaginable individuals, can't consider I'm working with Christopher Eccleston, can't consider I'm rebooting a British basic.
'It [was] sort of unhappy to hear that, really. I knew he was struggling, however yeah, I assumed it was just scheduling and issues like that, which are often a difficult part of what we do.'
Billie was then requested if she'd return to the world of Physician Who.
'I wouldn't return as a full-time thing, but I'd love to make one other appearance,' she teased.
Reprising her position of companion Rose doesn't appear to be on the cards simply but, although, given the success of Netflix's Scoop because it landed earlier this month.
The I Hate Suzie actor plays Newsnight's interview booker in the show concerning the events behind Prince Andrew's notorious 'automotive crash' interview with broadcaster Emily Maitlis, who is performed by Gillian Anderson.
Billie confessed that she was initially unsure about taking the position, but realised there was a much bigger story to inform.

'I feel she was the rationale this occurred. And it's barely miserable that nobody really knew something about her,' Billie added of her character.
Meanwhile, in Doctor Who Land, the present Physician is Ncuti Gatwa, whom Christopher previously praised in a rare reference to his days because the Time Lord.
Christopher – who was the primary to be forged when Russell rebooted the collection – shared pictures of his many roles all through his career on Instagram in 2022.
Giving his blessing for Ncuti to fill the well-known footwear, Christopher included a shot from Physician Who and wrote: 'The Doctor. I liked enjoying Him. A lot like to NCUTI GATWA.'
Christopher beforehand defined his reasons for leaving Doctor Who, citing grievances with Russell and producers Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson.
He claimed their bond 'utterly broke down through the capturing of the primary collection.'
'I feel it's truthful to say… that the primary collection no one knows what they're doing and the politics are raging. The capturing of the primary collection was a nightmare.'
He& added to Radio Times& in 2018: 'They misplaced belief in me, and I lost religion and trust and belief in them.'
