AMERICANS are in line for a payout of up to $50 in free money thanks to one state's online switch up.

A searchable website in Georgia was previously only displaying information on how to claim more than the aforementioned sum.

But following an investigative report by WSB TV-2, Georgia amended the error.

A simple online search means Americans can now find out if they are eligible for payout claims of $50 and under.

"There's no excuse for not showing those properties," said unclaimed property watchdog Ron Lizzi.

"Their job is to return the money, not hide it."

Last year, only $39million of a potential $253million was returned to its rightful owners.

The U.S Sun has reached out to Georgia state for comment.

It comes as Americans could claim their chunk of a $15million soda settlement.

A&W Concentrate Co. and Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. have agreed to settle a false advertising lawsuit that will be finalized in October 2023.

The company was sued for falsely advertising that their products contained real vanilla.

Products included in the suit are those beginning in 2016 through parts of 2023 that have "made with aged vanilla" on their label.

The sodas included in the settlement are zero sugar, diet, and regular variations of their A&W brand Root Beer and Cream Soda.

Filers are alleging that the misleading label made shoppers believe there was real vanilla in the product when in actuality it was ethyl vanillin, an artificial vanilla flavoring.

The company denies the allegations but is still settling the lawsuit.

Elsewhere, Americans can claim a payment worth up to $3,500 if they can prove they were affected by a data breach.

Claimants can use their phone bills and bank statements as proof in a bid to recover losses.

Chiefs at ACTS Retirement Services reached a settlement over a data breach that dates back to April 2022, but the firm has not admitted any wrongdoing, per Top Class Actions.

The lawsuit accuses ACTS of failing to protect patient information.

Details that may have been compromised including names, Social Security numbers, and treatment information.

Americans can file a claim if they were named by the company in documents as being impacted by the breach.
