Abbott Elementary scored a total of eight nominations for its second season, which premiered in September 2022, together with Outstanding Comedy Collection, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Collection and Outstanding Modern Hairstyling.
This yr's ceremony marks Brunson's second nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Collection for her position as Janine Teagues, whereas Ralph, 67, and Janelle Jones also scored their second Excellent Supporting Actress in a Comedy Collection nods as Barbara Howard and Ava Coleman, respectively.
Ralph took home the title at the 2022 Emmys in September 2022 and delivered a strong musical speech upon receiving her first-ever Emmy statue. Very similar to his costars, Williams, 31, can also be nominated for Excellent Supporting Actor in a Comedy Collection for his portrayal of Gregory Eddie. Marking her fourth general Emmy nomination, Taraji P. Henson earned an Excellent Guest Actress in a Comedy Collection nod for her visitor look as Janine's mother, Vanetta, in season 2's penultimate episode titled "Mother."
The collection, created by Brunson, scored a total of seven Emmy nominations in 2022 and gained Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Collection and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Collection. Although the show was renewed for a 3rd season in January 2023, manufacturing was placed on pause because of the Hollywood strikes. Brunson explained to Deadline in October 2023 that season three may have "fewer episodes" due to the strikes, including "I welcomed a shorter season as a result of it's tiring, exhausting work. Like it, but exhausting for me."
The WGA ended its strike in September 2023, adopted by SAG-AFTRA in November. Brunson celebrated the collection' upcoming return by way of Instagram last month, captioning a show promo video, "Feb seventh. We're again :)."
