ERIC Carmen, the lead singer of The Raspberries, has died at the age of 74.
The beloved frontman, whose solo hits embrace All By Myself and By no means Gonna Fall in Love Once more, died in his sleep over the weekend, his wife confirmed on Monday.
The 70s energy pop icon was behind the hit Hungry Eyes popularized in Soiled Dancing as well as being the grasp behind the theme music for Footloose.

"Our candy, loving and gifted Eric handed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It introduced him nice pleasure to know, that for many years, his music touched so many and will probably be his lasting legacy.
"Please respect the family's privacy as we mourn our monumental loss. 'Love Is All That Matters… Trustworthy and Perpetually."

The cause and circumstances of his demise haven't been made public.
