'That was such a perfect location,' Dollar Tree fans cry as store closes after 35 years – but more shutdowns on the way | MN9VMUR | 2024-05-06 17:08:01
DOLLAR Tree customers have slammed the company for shutting down one of its locations after 35 years in business.
Shoppers were left heartbroken after finding out their local Dollar Tree in Northwest Boise, Idaho closed down for good.

A Dollar Tree located at the Collister Shopping Center closed down in late April.
"That was such a perfect location," one customer wrote on Facebook, reflecting on the closure.
Another shopper revealed it helped the community's children while it was open.
"It was a nice spot for the kids in the Collister Neighborhood to walk to for treats and supplies for school projects," the shopper wrote.
"It will be missed. This is the second business to leave the Collister Shopping Center related to lease rates. The former bowling alley preceded this."
The assistant manager of the location, Eric Palmer, revealed that rent hikes caused the closure, according to Boise Dev.
He believes that this will be a major loss to the community, especially for those who have limited transportation.
"Especially the elderly, they walk or ride their scooters here because it's the only store close by," Palmer said.
"This closure will impact a lot of people."
Dollar Tree announced that it would be closing 600 of its locations in 2024.
The company also plans to shut down 370 Family Dollar stores within the next few years once the leases ends.
<!-- End of Brightcove Player --> The retailer previously divulged that the company has been struggling due to inflation.
Customers are now looking to get the best deal and compare prices, while others have been resorting to shoplifting which has been hurting the business's profits.
THE LOSS OF FAMILY DOLLAR
Last month, customers were also dealing with the impacts of Family Dollar being shut down.
The Conesville, Ohio location at 16160 Township Road 287 announced that it was closing its doors after years of supporting the community.

However, after the shutdown was announced it was revealed that almost all of the employees were let go, per a layoff notice.
The news shocked the people in the area, who depended on the discount store.
Ohio resident Donna Woodie said the location is "definitely going to be missed by [herself] and others," in a post on the Coshocton Tribune's Facebook page.
Another shopper pointed out that she is usually at the store almost every day.
"I live like a minute from there it was so convenient just not for me but for many others," she said.
