'Turning into a wasteland' cries Ulta fan as location gets set to close in just days – and customers found out by letter | MN9VMUR | 2024-05-06 17:08:01
BEAUTY product enthusiasts have been devastated in one community after a beloved Ulta announced its closing.
The East Bay Bridge Center, San Francisco, makeup store is set to close for good on Saturday.

News of the store's closure came with little fanfare as shoppers only found out because of a single sheet of paper.
Posted on the front doors sat a sign that read: "We're closing this location on Saturday, May 4."
During its final days, the store is having sales of up to 90% off.
Residents in this California community are left with two other locations:
- 2245 South Shore Center, Alameda, CA
- 1216 Fitzgerald Drive, Pinole, CA
Each remaining location is about 30 minutes away, leaving customers to travel considerably further to shop.
"Nooooo I love having an Ulta so close," one customer said on an Instagram post by @evilleeye.
"We were just there on Saturday and had no idea. This sucks," another said.
"I heard other stores are closing throughout the state," a third warned Ulta fans.
RESIDENT GIVE REASON
Other shoppers called out this location's closing as a part of a larger issue in the San Fransico area.
<!-- End of Brightcove Player --> "I just moved back to the bay from Louisiana….the longer I'm here the more I'm realizing I should have stayed down South," lamented one customer on Facebook.
Another individual pointed to specific issues plaguing the community.
"The Bay Area is turning into a wasteland when it comes to homelessness and commercial businesses shutting down," they wrote.
They further explained different factors playing into business closures in the area in response to an opposing commenter.
"Many of the businesses which have been operational for decades can no longer be open for business due to a variety of reasons, including inflation, crime and attracting trustworthy and qualified employees," they said.
"Moreover, your response did not address the homeless crisis turning the Bay Area into a wasteland which it clearly is."

"This is so sad. My wife and I saw so much ugliness in our time living down the street (40th and San Pablo) and we got to a point where we just couldn't take it," they shared on Instagram.
"I miss California so much, but not what it was when I left. I miss what it once was. Watching the Bay Area news from over here makes me so sad for what has become of a place that I loved so much, but no longer loved me," they continued.
ULTA'S FINANCIAL STANDING
The Illinois-based company is the largest beauty retailer in the country with over 1,300 locations nationwide.
Although customers have been fearing more closures, the latest financial report from the company is reassuring.
Ulta's plans for the 2024 fiscal year include opening between 60 and 65 new locations.
The company will also be remodeling and relocating 40 to 45 existing stores.
Ulta is also considering going international with its company, expanding its geographic footprint.
"International expansion represents an incremental, long-term opportunity for Ulta Beauty to extend our reach and leverage our differentiated value proposition," said Dave Kimbell, chief executive officer.
