BEL MOONEY: Must I really be my wife's carer, even though her family won't help?
Dear Bel, Sixty years ago, while serving in the Royal Navy, I met my current wife and got engaged. Unfortunately, I had to take my ship to Gibraltar for a long refit, which meant remaining there for 18 months. In time I got the inevitable 'Dear John' letter and that was that. We each married different partners but much later I divorced and she was widowed. We always wondered what happened to each other and got in contact six years ago.
