Switzerland's Ruben Vargas scored an excellent goal just 27 seconds into the second half as he made it 2-0 against Italy. Italy kicked off at the start of the second period but they eventually lost possession, with Switzerland proceeding to work the ball to Vargas, who found the net with a composed finish from just inside the penalty area. Switzerland had taken the lead in the 37th minute through Remo Freuler and went on to win the game to progress to the quarter-finals.
