State launches massive search and rescue operation and supplies are rushed in to devastated communities as Hurricane Helene death toll climbs to 130 with more unaccounted for

The death toll from the devastating Hurricane Helene that battered the southeastern United States has climbed to at least 130 as massive search and rescue operations are launched. Helene smashed into the Florida Gulf coast on Thursday as a Category 4 hurricane and quickly moved through Georgia, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake as it tore through houses, ripped up roads, and severed lines of communication. The ferocious storm- one of the worst in US history - has already killed more than 100 people in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Virginia, with the death toll expected to rise once rescue teams reach isolated towns and emergency telecommunications assets come online.

Iran will face 'serious consequences' if it attacks Israel, the US has warned, as thousands of American troops have been sent to the region amid fears that fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon could escalate into all-out regional war. US fighter jet squadrons are being deployed, including F-15E and F-16s - jets which played a significant role in shooting down Iranian drones when Tehran launched a missile and drone attack on Israel back in April.

A man was arrested after allegedly crawling under several women's cars for his sexual gratification in Gilbert, Ariz., in late August, per Fox 10 and AZ Family. Jesse Michael Johnson, 28, was allegedly caught via camera surveillance at a Super Star Car Wash in Gilbert on Thursday, August 29. Johnson, who has a previous history of sex crimes, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and charged with three counts of voyeurism and three counts of disorderly conduct.

A judge has upheld an involuntary manslaughter conviction against a movie armorer in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed asked a New Mexico court to dismiss her conviction or convene a new trial, alleging that prosecutors failed to share evidence that could have cleared her over the shooting on the set of the Western film 'Rust.' But Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer in her written order noted that Gutierrez-Reed's attorneys did not establish that there was a reasonable possibility that the outcome of the trial would have been different had the evidence been available to her.
